Why people call

Four Reasons a Deck Stops Getting Used

None of them are the deck's fault. All four come back to material, hardware and what the climate does to both.

The Wood Deck Has Gone Soft

Florida rain and humidity get into pressure-treated boards that stopped being sealed. Soft spots underfoot usually mean the surface, but sometimes the joists underneath.

You Cannot Sit Out There

Afternoon sun makes the deck unusable until evening, and evening brings mosquitoes. A screen room or shade structure fixes both ends of the day.

Fasteners Are Rusting Out

Coastal air is hard on hardware. Rusted screws and corroded joist hangers are structural, not cosmetic, and they are why boards start moving underfoot.

It Never Got Sealed Again

Every wood deck here needs sealing on a schedule almost nobody keeps. That is the single biggest reason people move to composite the second time around.

Our Services

Decks Built for Florida

Sun, afternoon storms and humidity decide what lasts here. Material choice matters more in Tampa than in most of the country.

Why Choose Us

Why Tampa Homeowners Call Us

The part that decides whether a deck lasts is the part you never see. We look at it before quoting the part you do.

Free On-Site Estimate

We measure, check access and look at the ground before quoting. No number over the phone that changes once someone sees it.

Fixed Written Price

Itemised, with permit work included. Nothing is ordered until you approve it.

We Pull the Permits

Height, attachment to the house and anything near water all change what is required. That is our job, not yours.

Frame First

We check what is underneath before pricing what goes on top. Resurfacing a failing frame is how a deck gets built twice.

Deck framing under construction: pressure-treated joists on galvanised hangers, a post-to-beam connection and a concrete footing, with the first composite boards laid across the top

Our Process

FAQ

Straight Answers

What does a deck cost in Tampa?
It scales with square footage, height off the ground and material. Composite costs more up front and far less over ten years; pressure-treated is cheaper to build and needs sealing. We price both at the visit so you compare real numbers rather than a range off a website.
Composite or pressure-treated in this climate?
Composite for most people, because Florida sun and daily summer rain are hard on wood and annual sealing is a chore almost nobody keeps up. Pressure-treated still makes sense on a budget or where the deck is largely shaded.
Do I need a permit?
Usually, and we pull it. Height, attachment to the house and proximity to water all change what is required, and waterfront work can involve more than the city.
How long does it take?
Most residential decks are days rather than weeks once material is on site. The permit and the material lead time are usually longer than the build itself.
My deck is soft in places. Repair or replace?
It depends whether it is the surface or the frame. Soft boards over a sound frame is a resurface. Soft joists or rusted hardware is a rebuild, and we look underneath before quoting.
Can you build over an existing concrete patio?
Often, yes. It depends on drainage and the height you end up at relative to the door threshold, both of which we check at the visit.
What about hurricane season?
Attachment and anchoring are where that shows up - ledger connections, footings and how a pergola or cover is tied down. It affects the build detail rather than whether you can build.
Do you do docks?
Yes, including decking, railings and platforms. Waterfront permitting is its own process and we handle it as part of the job.
